Major patch introducing Endless Lair dungeon, Hardcore mode, difficulty rebalancing, dungeon waypoint teleportation, and numerous quality-of-life improvements.

Warning

Single-player save versioning is not yet implemented. Offline single-player world state won't carry over after the patch. Finish any game in progress before patching.

Highlights

  • Added Endless Lair dungeon (multi-level dungeon down to level 100, spawns after killing Narlathak)
  • Added Hardcore character mode (segregated from non-hardcore in multiplayer)
  • Dungeon entrances can now be used as waypoints from within the dungeon or from the overworld
  • Improved hero's ability to traverse rough terrain
  • Significant changes to earlier difficulty tiers (renamed levels, rebalanced damage and necropolis growth)

🎮 Gameplay (7)

  • Added Hardcore character option (segregated from non-hardcore in multiplayer)
  • Renamed difficulty levels, set default difficulty to "Journeyman"
  • Heroes now start with a flask on "Peasy" and "Journeyman" difficulties
  • Decreased enemy damage in "Peasy" and "Journeyman" difficulties
  • Necropolis growth is slowed for "Peasy", "Journeyman", and "Normal" difficulties
  • Reduced the cooldown and increased the healing rate for all flasks
  • Hero's mana is restored on respawn

✨ Skills (4)

  • Fixed an issue where skills for level 8 characters were being reset to level 1
  • Increased skill cap from 7 to 9
  • Decreased the amount of terrain damage done by Spine Breaker
  • Blood Lash - Red Embrace now has a 50% chance to entangle (instead of 100%)

🎒 Items (1)

  • Runes and Runeword items no longer despawn on regular depopulate

🎨 Graphics (4)

  • Adjusted bloom and fog settings in many overworld areas and dungeons
  • Crypts can now randomly be foggy or not
  • Improved various textures, optimized geometry for various objects
  • Added target FPS option

  • Allow jumping while entangled when in water or air
  • Improved the ability for the character to navigate rough terrain

  • Added first-pass "endless" dungeon after Narlathak (Endless Lair)
  • Endless Lair spawns in a random sector after killing Narlathak
  • Endless Lair is a multi-level dungeon that goes down to level 100
  • Teleport back to the entrance of a dungeon (from within) by clicking on it in the full map
  • Teleport back to the entrance of any dungeon you've entered (from the overworld) by clicking on it in the full map
  • Bogie dungeon no longer closes unless champion Tyrant is slain
  • Added a signpost explaining shift-click to attack in place / destroy walls in crypts

👹 Mobs / AI (2)

  • Mobs now have reduced aggro and follow ranges vs. players > 3 levels higher
  • Removed strata damage from Disgraced Paladin

🌐 Online / Server (4)

  • Temporarily removed public game functionality
  • Restored ability to name worlds
  • Add the last world player visited to world list (even if private)
  • Added intermittent character save in online games

🐛 Bug Fixes (8)

  • Fixed several crash bugs
  • Fixed an issue where skills for level 8 characters were being reset to level 1
